Tae Kwon Do Etiquette
There is one underlying idea for proper Tae Kwon Do student behavior – RESPECT – Respect for your teachers, fellow students, and the classroom (Do Chang). If you follow this very simple idea, then the when and how will fall into place very easily.

Bowing – When bowing, students should put their feet together, put their hands at their side, and bend at the waist. The deeper the bow, the greater respect you are showing. Students should bow when entering and leaving the Do Chang (class room). Before and after receiving instructions from a teacher, when requesting to join or leave a class activity.

Responses – There are four basic responses to instructions.
-
Yes Sir/Mam
-
No Sir/Mam
-
I will try harder Sir/Mam
-
Thank You Sir/Mam
If you did not understand the instructions, you can ask for clarification.

Uniform – Should be neat, clean, and complete. The proper Tae Kwon Do uniform consists of a Do Bock top and pants, a plain or Tae Kwon Do T-Shirt, and your belt.

Class Attendance – You should arrive before class and stretch. Regular tardiness is a sign of disrespect. If you arrive late and want to join the class, you first need to run, bow in, and then line up at the back of the class.

Stepping out of Class – If you need to step out of class or leave for any reason during a class, please inform a black belt. The lead instructor of the class is responsible for the health and safety of all the students during class.
General Behavior – If you do not see a black belt engaged in an activity, then neither should you. Also, since we spend a lot of time with our fellow Tae Kwon Do students and teachers, we frequently become good friends. However, we still need to show the proper respect to our teachers, fellow students, and the Do Chang.
