Welcome to USA TMA New Mexico
About our Club
This is a great place to add a tagline.
The Los Alamos branch of the USA Tae Kwon Do Masters Association (USA TMA) was established in 1969 and has been in continuous operation since, making the local school the oldest martial arts school in Los Alamos and one of the oldest in New Mexico. The Los Alamos classes follow the tenets of the USA Tae Kwon Do Masters Association as set forth by Grandmaster Duk Sung Son who came to America from South Korea in 1963. The Los Alamos school started as one class of 8 students and developed over the years to its current size. At one point, the school had 9 classes with slightly less than 200 students in Northern New Mexico. Classes are taught in Los Alamos by certified black belt instructors.
The Los Alamos class became sponsored by the Los Alamos County Recreation Department in the late 1970’s. All of the USA Tae Kwon Do Masters Association - New Mexico Schools classes are taught under the direction of 8th degree black belt, Headmaster Ron Geoffrion. Master Geoffrion began tae kwon do in 1973 and started teaching a class at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1975. He became Chief Instructor of the Los Alamos tae kwon do schools in 1978. Grandmaster Son awarded Master Geoffrion with a Masters Certificate in 1997. He became a 8th degree black belt and Headmaster in 2020. Master Geoffrion has won many competitive honors in Black Belt Sparring and Black Belt Forms. He also travels around the country instructing, performing demonstrations, and judging regional and national competitions.
